Hello, this week's work pack can be found below. Please remember to log into Seesaw daily and complete the activities there or upload the work you have downloaded and completed on paper. I look forward to seeing all the great work you have been completing! laugh

Work Pack week commencing 8th June

Hello all,

Posted below will be the work for the next week. You can still download the work if you choose to complete it this way. However, from now on, all of the work will also appear daily as a task on Seesaw. If the children are able to access their work on Seesaw, please use the activity pages to complete the work as it automatically loads to the class page when they are finished. If your child prefers to complete the work on paper, they can do this and then upload a picture to the assigned activity on the Seesaw page.

As always, please get in touch if you have any queries. :)

Mrs. Greenslade

Hello All,

The Head Teacher of Bedwas would like to know if there are any questions you may have about transition or the highschool itself. He is going to create a video to answer any questions posed. Parents or students please send me any questions (no matter how small) in the contact form on this page or through Seesaw by Next Tuesday (June 2nd) and we will be sure to forward them onto the high school. 😊

Enjoy all of this amazing sunshine 🌞

UPDATE: 14th May

Dear D6 pupils and parents \ carers,

As you may already know, I will be leaving Graig-Y-Rhacca this Friday as my contract ends. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching you all these past couple of months. Keep up the good work.

I will be returning to school when it reopens to say my goodbyes to you all. From next Monday, Mrs Greenslade will be providing support for the pupils.

I wish you all the very best and take care.

Miss Andrews

If you have any questions and queries, please use the contact form. I will try and respond ASAP.

Good morning,

Thank you to all the parents / guardians and pupils that have engaged so well on SeeSaw. Please find the next work pack. It is set out exactly the same as the previous one, with 'Week 3 guide' and 'Week 4 guide' to support you. I have also attached the 'Mayan Fact card' document, which will be needed for one of the English tasks.

If you need any support through the work or on SeeSaw, please use the 'Contact Me' form further down on the page.

The Halifax bank in Blackwood and Caerphilly has asked for your help. During this uncertain time, many of the NHS staff are continuing their amazing work to help those in need. As a nation, we have shown our gratitude and support through many different actions. Halifax would like as many pictures of rainbows as possible to display at the front of their store. Get creative and show your support for the NHS by drawing a rainbow.

Take a clear picture of it and upload it on SeeSaw or send it to me via email. I will then print it off and pass it onto the bank.

IMPORTANT: Please do not write your names on the picture.

SeeSaw engagement

There are a number of children and families from Dosbarth 6 who are connected to SeeSaw but who have not yet been active on it. Please can you use this platform as a way of communicating with myself. There is important information regarding your child's home learning on there and additional activities that they can complete. If you have difficulty in accessing SeeSaw, please contact me via the contact form further down.

Welcome back after your well deserved Easter break. I hope you all relaxed and stayed safe. Please see below the work pack for the next two weeks.

I have uploaded a 'Week 1 guide' and 'Week 2 guide' to help you with setting out the work.

Also, please find the Welsh evacuee task (further down) to complete as part of the work pack. This work is set out by Mrs Davenport.

WELSH EVACUEE TASK. Please read the letter from Mrs Davenport first before you undertake the task.

Chester Zoo is opening its virtual gates again TOMORROW! Explore the wonders of wildlife by clicking this link below:

Also, I thought you’d be interested to know CCBC has just set up Facebook page to try and inspire, entertain, educate and brighten the lives of children and adults locked down at home.

Nature is waking up! Spring is unfurling and the nations on lock down! So what a great opportunity to discover and share what's happening in our gardens, yards, window boxes or even just out of the windows!

So why not get out and explore your very own patch. Grab your mobile phone, switch on the camera and start snapping away. We want to see your blooming buttercups, your basking butterflies, your beaky birds and your bonkers squirrels!

Post your pictures, observations, questions etc. to this site. We'll have experts on hand to help with answering your questions and identifying your wildlife pictures. We'll also have fun activities and tips of what you and your children can do to help nature share your home 'patch'.

Everyone one can join in from the very young to the very old and help bring some joy to for others to see as we escape into the wonder of nature. Click the link below:

Easter Homework!!!

With these difficult times, I do hope you all enjoy your Easter break.

I wanted to thank all of the parents and guardians for your support in the children's learning and for engaging so well on SeeSaw. Not forgetting D6 pupils, for their hard work and taking great responsibility of their learning.

Any questions over Easter, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Stay safe.

Miss Andrews

Please see the spellings document below.

These are for your child to learn over the next week. If you can test your child on these and message me their results via the class page or SeeSaw it would be much appreciated.

D6 pupils have now been assigned an activity on SeeSaw. Please log in and complete.

This is a fantastic website based around Science experiments. Take a look at the 'videos' section (DO NOT TRY AT HOME), and comment on SeeSaw which experiment was your favourite.

BUT, if you do want to try an experiment at home, click on the 'experiments' section. If you do try out an experiment, please post a picture of it on your SeeSaw page so I can see. ALWAYS ask an adult to help you with any experiment you do.

Have fun.smiley

I have uploaded a document that provides useful website links for home learning, along with some fun activities. Please use these to help you with the work pack.

Useful websites for home learning

Dear parents / guardians,

Due to school closure, the children should complete the work pack that was sent home. If the children would like to show me their work, please can they upload this on their SeeSaw account and I will provide feedback.

I will be updating the class SeeSaw page regularly for your child's home learning. On here, they will be set additional activities and tasks. Each child has been given a home sign in text code to access these tasks. There is a guide on how to use this code on SeeSaw. Please keep checking SeeSaw regularly as this will be the main way of communicating.

Your cooperation is appreciated. Thank you and stay safe.

Home learning link

Mathsbot is a free online website that your child can access at home. It enables them to revisit areas of Maths that they have been learning in class. I have uploaded a step-by-step guide on just one zone of Mathsbot. Please use this to guide you through the website.

Using a cross curricular approach, in English we will be discussing whether travelling to space is a good idea. In Music, we will be learning and performing a planet rap and in Art the children will be making a 3D model of their favourite planet.

Keep checking the website for updates on the children's learning.

D6's Remembrance Assembly with Royal British Legion friends

Year 6 Leavers' 'RockFest 2019'

Our Year 6 boys and girls had the most fantastic time at their leavers' 'RockFest 2019'. The parents created a mini festival to celebrate the children's time in Graig Y Rhacca Primary and Nursery Community School. At 'RockFest 2019' the children had fun on a rodeo bull, relaxed in tents, ate delicious food, listened to a live band and they even had a glitter tattoo or two!

Thank you to all the parents who made the festival possible, your hard work and support is greatly appreciated. Thank you also to all the parents, carers, grandparents and friends who sponsored our pupils to ensure they had a fun packed festival.

Mini-Police Programme

Well done to the boys and girls who represented our Year 6 Mini-Police squad at an assembly in Bedwas High School this morning. The Mini-Police shared with PC Madley their concerns regarding litter, vandalism, graffiti and anti-social behaviour within the community so we joined the assembly to ask all the pupils in KS3 to support and help our community work. Tnank you to PC Madley for all his help and support.
