Summer Term 2018

Welcome back to school.

This term will again be very busy as the children have chosen to study the topic of 'Road trip USA', which has of course, delighted Mrs Greenslade! In discussion with Mrs Greenslade, the children have selected topics related to America, it's people and history which will help them develop their literacy and numeracy skills.

Creative writing, poetry and song-writing form the backbone of our English in the first half term which will be led by Miss Taylor. In Mathematics, we will begin by studying fractions as well as doing lots of problemsolving and reasoning using the maths we have been learning throughout the year so far.

In Science, the children will begin a study of electricity, whilst PE starts with hockey on a Monday and football on a Friday.

You can keep up to date with your child's progress by logging in to your child's individual Seesaw account where they will regularly post images and comments pertaining to their work in school. Remember that your child also has their own Giglets reading account. Homework and spellings remain as usual, being given out and tested on a Thursday, with homework due in on a Monday.

Healthy tuck fruit is provided courtesy of Mrs Lawrence and is 20p per day.

Welcome back - Autumn Term (Second Half Term)

In D4 this half term we are studying The Victorians whilst in literacy we will be reading 'The Tin Forest' to stimulate our writing. In Maths we will be concentrating on mastering addition, subtraction and multiplication. We are promoting 'Respect' throughout the half term.

Routines:

Homework, reading books and spellings will be given out each Thursday. This gives children a chance to check they understand the homework before the weekend. Homework is due to be returned on Monday whilst spellings and tables are tested on Thursdays. Included in many children's homework is a list of individual high frequency spelling words which your child has spelled incorrectly in class. Please also learn these spellings as part of each week's homework.

Fruit-Tuck is collected each Monday and is 20p per day. A selection of apples, oranges, grapes and bananas is provided.

PE kit should be in school on a Thursday this half term.
